OINY: Singing Happy Birthday to Sweeney Todd

I've decided I need a new category- OINY: Only in New York. This applies to random occurrences that were not premeditated, expected, or even dreamed after eating Mexican food. These posts can only happen on an ordinary day, in ordinary circumstances in New York. And they are priceless.

Tonight, I attended a reception at the Friar's Club. I am the grateful recipient of a Friar's Club scholarship this year and dutifully attended this little gathering. The Friar's adopt performing arts students across the city- because they actually believe and put money on actors, dancers, singers, designers, and managers.

I digress. Guess who else was in the Friar's Club enjoying his birthday dinner? LEN CARIOU. Tony award winner for Sweeney Todd. Nominee for Little Night Music. They brought Len into our room and we sang Happy Birthday to him. Only in New York
